[MAGISK] How to Root Mi A1 After Upgrading to Android Oreo

Hello friends, I just received Oreo update on my mi a1. and the disaster happens! As I am an android developer, I just can’t leave without root access. And as soon the oreo update hits our phone, the previous version of TWRP Recovery stopped working. So we need to follow a different procedure to get root access.

So in this article, I am gonna tell you how I enabled root access in my MI A1.

NOTE: Only For Advanced Users Who Simply Can’t Live Without Root Access!

This is just a temporary solution to get root access on Mi A1.

Some Insider:

Xiaomi didn’t yet release the kernel sources for MI A1. So Developers can’t make Fully stable TWRP Or Custom ROMs for Mi A1.

Let’s return to the point.

Requirements:

  • A Fastboot and ADB configured Windows PC
  • A USB Type-C Cable 
  • Mi A1 Upgraded to Oreo
  • Patched boot.img file (Click Here To Download)
  • Magisk Manager Apk (Official Site)
  • And Some Reading Skills

Boot Your MI A1 In Fastboot Mode. and connect it to the computer through Type-C Cable.

Now extract the patched boot image in a separate folder. and open a cmd or PowerShell window there and type the commands

fastboot oem unlock

It will unlock the bootloader of your Mi A1. after that type:It will show the current slot your phone is running.

fastboot boot patched_boot.img

It will boot up your phone back to the system.

Now install Magisk Manager Apk.  and click on install button. and click on direct install.  Just Reboot your phone. Now you should have root access in your phone.
